What is functional fitness?
Functional fitness focuses on exercises that improve real-life movement patterns like squatting, pushing, pulling, bending, running and jumping by building strength, endurance, mobility, and coordination in ways that directly support daily activities.
Unlike isolated strength training, where the primary goal is to build muscle strength, size (hypertrophy) or power in specific muscles, functional fitness utilises compound, multi-joint, dynamic movements that mimic every day or sports-specific tasks, enhancing one's balance, core stability, and range of movement, helping to reduce the risk of injury and increase physical resilience.

Hi, I'm Marni
A mum of two, wife, business owner, personal trainer, nutrition coach and group fitness instructor with over a decade of experience.
My background in endurance sports including Ironman and marathon running has helped me build mental and physical resilience over the years and it’s a quality I use to empower my clients to face challenges with confidence, both in and out of the gym.
I believe in a holistic approach to health and fitness considering an individual’s unique balance between physical, emotional, social, mental and environmental aspects of health.
I am passionate about helping people build confidence, body awareness, correct exercise execution and understanding the “why” behind what they are doing to build sustainable health habits and a lifestyle centred on consistency over perfection.
I strongly believe the benefits of functional fitness alongside balanced nutrition; effective stress management and proper recovery is key to achieving optimal well-being for the general population.
My goal is to create a place that supports clients in doing so while having fun and building a sense of belonging and camaraderie amongst fellow gym members.
